Fees & Insurance

Fees and Insurance

We are in-network providers with:

  • Healthplus
  • Empire BC/BS
  • HealthFirst
  • Fidelis
  • Magnacare
  • Medicare
  • Humana
  • Cigna
  • United HealthCare/Oxford
  • 1199
  • HIP/EMBLEM excluding GHI

This means  most likely you will only be responsible for the co-pay and or deductible. Each contract within these insurance plans are different so upon our initial phone call I will gather your insurance information and make sure that I am an in-network provider so that you will not be responsible for any fees beyond your co-pay.

Fees- If you choose to not use your insurance or we do not participate in your plan

  • Intake Session (60 mins) - $135
  • Individual Session (45 mins) - $100
  • Couples/family Session (60 mins) - $135
  • SAP-DOT Evaluation- $475

Longer appointments available on request for additional fees.  Session typically are held weekly however, this is tailored to the needs of the client and will be discussed on the first session.

We do set aside a few slots for those who may have trouble paying our full fee. You should not be denied quality treatment for inability to pay.  These slots do fill up fast. I will help you find another qualified therapist if they are full.

Cash, Check and Credit Card/Debit Card are accepted.

We are out of network with most other provider- What is Out Of Network Insurance?

We are out of network providers for most other insurances.  This means that you will pay in full up front and I will fill out forms necessary to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. You may be reimbursed in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan.  Please check your coverage carefully by calling your insurance company and asking the following questions:

  • Do I have out of network mental health benefits?
  • If so is an LCSW covered? Do they need “R” status?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
  • How much will I be reimbursed for out of network providers

Why Would I not use my Insurance?

We understand the desire to utilize your insurance for counseling services which is why we do continue to particpiate with many plans.  We do want you to know however that there are both negatives and positives of using insurance for counseling. The obvious positive is that the out of pocket cost is lower when you go to a provider who is in-network with your insurance. You may ask, then why wouldn’t I want to utilize a counselor who is in-network. I advise you to visit the article "what are the concerns for using health insurance for therapy" by Judy C. Roberts MA:
